What to expect during your first month at Found

Starting something new can be scary—and that can be especially true when beginning a weight care program. (In fact, there’s a word for that very real fear of something new or unfamiliar: neophobia.) Is it normal to have some worries? Absolutely! Should they hold you back? Absolutely not! 

Almost 42% of Americans are living with obesity. And around 73% of Americans live with either excess weight. A lot of them—like you—are searching for ways to get support. And that’s where Found comes in. Our comprehensive team is uniquely designed with you in mind! We offer health coaching, behavioral change strategy, social support, technology, and medication* all at the tip of your fingers. What more could you need along your weight care journey?

If you’re still a little hesitant… no worries. We’ll walk you through what you can expect during your first month at Found. 

WEEK 1

Days 1-2:

Shortly after you complete your intake form and find out which path you’re eligible for (prescription or wellness), you’ll receive a welcome email with helpful resources, including a link to download the Found app—it’s an essential program tool, so be sure to do so! You’ll also get a text introducing you to your assigned health coach, who will guide you through the first four weeks of the program and help you build a foundation for the coming months. Rest assured; your coach is a real person with real weight care expertise. Besides the auto-scheduled messages sent each Monday during your first month, your coach will be the one to respond back to you personally when you reply. Your coach will be there to support you as you begin creating new habits, help you navigate through any barriers you may encounter, as well as direct you to helpful resources.


Remainder of week 1:

If you’ve qualified for the prescription path and your ID is verified, you’ll get a text typically within two to four days after being verified: “There’s a message from the provider waiting in your Found portal.” Go ahead to the med page in the Found app and reply. You and your provider will message back and forth and review your medical history to determine which medication—or medications—work best for you. One perk about this consultation process is that you don’t have to worry about setting up an appointment and going into a doctor’s office. #convenient 

After you agree to a medication, your provider will write a prescription that will be processed by a pharmacy and mailed right to your door. (Easy-peasy!!) Shipping can take 3-5 days, and you’ll receive a tracking number to keep tabs on your order. Meanwhile, you’ll continue working with your Found health coach on setting personal goals and exploring the app. You’ll find it’s one of the best tools to make behavior commitments that ultimately lead to long-term sustainable change. WEEK 2

This week at Found is all about you: What do you want to work on? What questions do you have? Are you getting the hang of the app? Remember, your coach is only a text away and there to help get you situated.

When you’re ready, you’ll decide which healthy habits you’d like to build. Found’s in-app behavior change program offers a wide range of Habits choose from. We suggest you start with Foundations—they’re the core set of Habits that our medical and psychological experts believe are essential to your success. Click Foundations in the app to browse and choose one of Found’s core habits. You can think of this list as the Found program that helps you jumpstart your journey to healthy living. Habits are your roadmaps to lasting lifestyle change. And combined with coaching, they're Found’s ‘bread and butter.’ Designed by our panel of experts—a registered dietitian, an obesity medicine specialist, and a behavioral scientist—each Habit is there to help you turn daily actions into the permanent lifestyle routines you need for good weight care, such as eating more slowly, reducing added sugar, moving more, and getting enough sleep. Start slowly—you won’t tackle all of the Habits at once. Rather, you’ll systematically select and work through each Habit until that behavior becomes second nature. The more you log a task associated with a Habit, the more you “level up.” With each Habit, there are different levels to work through that will help you make your new routine stick! Ultimately though, it’s up to you how much time you spend in each Habit—you’re in the driver’s seat. And your coach is your co-pilot. 

Your coach can see the Habits you choose and your logged routines. That’s why it’s so important to start working on a Habit and log your routines and the associated tasks on a regular basis. Not only does it drive habit formation, but it also allows your coach to give more support and tailored feedback. It’s a win-win!

WEEK 3

You’ll continue to work with your coach to create a game plan that moves you closer to your ideal self. This will help you succeed with the Habits you’ve chosen before they set you free in two weeks! Don’t worry—our team of coaches is always a text away if you need them.

Every Wednesday, you’ll be encouraged to log your weight and share any NSVs (non-scale victories), referred to as #FoundWins in the app. Non-scale victories are noticeable changes and achievements you’ve had regardless of what the scale says. They’re different forms of success that deserve recognition. So be on the lookout! Examples could be more energy, fitting into your favorite pair of jeans, lower blood pressure, or better sleep. You can share your NSVs with other Found members as a celebration in the app… oh yeah, did you figure that out yet? The app also allows you to see other Found members' routines. You can interact with and support your peers in the app.

WEEK 4

You’re nearing the end of your first month and becoming more and more comfortable with the process. You’ve met—and are saying goodbye to—your coach, you’ve connected with your Found provider, and you’ve received your medication if you’re on the prescription path. You’ve also selected a Habit or two and become an active app user—and hopefully, you're enjoying the new, supportive friends you now have within the Found community. We know that every day isn’t sunshine and rainbows. Fortunately, there are solutions for that.
